Shelby Ragsdale is a photographer from Georgetown, Texas who presently resides in Chicago, IL. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in photography at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She is a recipient of the Endsley Fellowship and a Deans List nominee in her final year at SAIC. Her photographic work has been exhibited both in the Chicago and Central Texas area, most recently at Sullivan Gallery, gallery no one, Roman Susan Gallery, and the Georgetown Art Center. She describes her work as "constructing a counter archive and narrative of the American landscape through the investigation of public and private spaces." She is interested in exploring how, "through the language of photography, these landscapes and mundane, intimate places can turn into something hollow, pulpy, and cheap," leaving the viewer and herself questioning the legitimacy of the image and the futility of the photograph.
